Our Name. Our Future.

Since 2024, we have been on a journey of reflection - working alongside our staff, parents and students to explore what it truly means to be part of our community. Through this process, we’ve seen a clear shift in what our community values and aspires to for the future. This has provided an important opportunity to reconsider our name and branding, ensuring it reflects who we are today.

Strengthening Our Marist Identity

As our College has grown, so too has our connection to St Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist tradition. His vision for education - personal, compassionate and grounded in faith - is something we live out each day through our actions, relationships and hopes for the future.

Our extensive pathway opportunities, our commitment to inspiring the potential of every student, and our strong sense of belonging all point to a community deeply aligned with Marist values.

Components of the St Marcellin Catholic College crest

Cross At the heart of our College Crest, and at the centre of all that we do, stands the Cross. As the ultimate symbol of our Catholic faith, the Cross reminds us of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, who showed us how to live with humility, compassion, courage and love.

Sacred Heart The Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary form the second element of our College Crest and hold a special place within the life of our community. At the beginning of each school year, the names of every student and staff member are placed within the Sacred Heart, entrusting our College family to the loving care of Jesus and Mary. More than a symbol, the Sacred Heart reminds us that our College is founded on relationships of family Spirit, presence and belonging. Through this enduring Marist tradition, we place our trust in Jesus and Mary as we journey together in hope and service.

Auspice Maria As a Marist school, we are part of a rich global tradition inspired by St Marcellin Champagnat, who entrusted his mission to Mary and encouraged all those who followed him to do the same. The presence of the Auspice Maria monogram, which means "under the protection of Mary", connects us to this enduring legacy and reminds us that Mary walks alongside us in our journey of faith and learning. St Marcellin Catholic College is proud to be one of nine Marist schools in Southeast Queensland, united by a shared commitment to forming young people who lead with faith, serve with compassion and strive to make a positive difference in the world.

Bunya Pine The Bunya Pine found a home in Petrie and so finds a place on our Crest. It stands as a powerful reminder of our call to seek reconciliation with First Nations peoples. The tree came to Petrie from the Bunya Mountains, the Country of the Wakka Wakka People, and now grows on the land of the Gubbi Gubbi nation. The tree is a place of business, ceremony and lore and is sacred to Aboriginal peoples, it holds a significant place on our Crest as a symbol of our suburb but more importantly our commitment to reconciliation.

Lantern The lantern stands as a reminder, that for all learners, across all pathways we have the responsibility to share our light with the world. At St Marcellin Catholic College we are all encouraged to develop our gifts and talents and grow into young men and women, with strong minds and gentle hearts, having high expectations and a desire to take our place in the global Community
