Parent Engagement

Mt Maria College Petrie has a Parent Engagement Advisory Group (PEAG) that works in partnership with the College Leadership Team (CLT) in our mission to support the provision of quality education and learning experiences for our children.

The PEAG has a strong Christian commitment and a vision to provide support to the College community in ways that engender in our children a sense of pride and belonging to this great College community.

All Parents and Carers of children at our College are welcome to participate in parent engagement events throughout the year. The PEAG acts as a voice of the parent/carer community in planning and enacting events, programs and building works.

A levy per family is paid through the College Fees and is passed on to the PEAG for allocation, by member consensus, for use in worthwhile contributions to projects benefiting every child at the College.

Of course, finding the time to get involved in school activities is not always easy, and we understand that many parents who would like to help out may be unable to make a regular commitment. The main thing to remember is that every little bit helps. Even if you only have the time to attend an occasional parent engagement event, your involvement is important and greatly appreciated. After all, the small contributions of many parents add up and help us achieve some really worthwhile benefits for our students and our College.

PEAG Parent Testimonial

"This is my fourth year of being a member of the PEAG. Over the years I have watched it grow into a thriving group of parents, willing to give up their time to be more connected with the College. It has helped me form strong, positive bonds with staff and other parents. I feel it is extremely important for parents to come along to the meetings, find out what is going on around the College and to make contributions towards decision-making for the future betterment of the College. Our views as parents regarding the College name change and updating the uniform has been very useful in helping to create a new identity and understanding the uniform needs for all families. Team PEAG provides a parent lens for the College Leadership Team to work with. We have played a crucial role in many projects, like the purchase of the College bus, the annual trivia night and other parent engagement activities.

It is important that the College has a parent voice, we are that voice and as the College grows and moves forward into the future, a strong parent team in the PEAG is vital. We always need new members and welcome ALL parents and carers to come along, meet the Principal and get involved while enjoying some light refreshments! With many new projects in the pipeline, there has never been a better time than now to get involved. See you at the next meeting." - By Julie Williams (PEAG Chairperson 2026)
