Mt Maria College Petrie – Instrumental Music Program
Welcome
The Instrumental Music Program at Mt Maria College Petrie provides students with the opportunity to learn an instrument, develop lifelong skills, and become part of our vibrant musical community. Learning music supports cognitive development, builds confidence, strengthens social skills, and enhances students’ overall wellbeing.
Music is an important part of College life and features in liturgies, assemblies, classrooms, and community events. All students are encouraged to participate and experience the joy of music-making.
Program Overview
Our program is ensemble-based, meaning all students learning an instrument will join a suitable ensemble once ready. Playing music with others helps students develop teamwork, musicianship, confidence, and responsibility.
Lessons are delivered by specialist instrumental teachers and run on a rotating timetable during school hours to minimise impact on academic classes.
