Mt Maria College Petrie offers a comprehensive Vocational Education and Training (VET) program, giving students the opportunity to develop essential employability skills that prepare them for success in a dynamic workforce and further education. All senior students are encouraged to participate in the Vocational Education program offerings – within the curriculum, through school-based traineeships and/or apprenticeships or external VET courses.
VOCATIONAL LEARNING
Mt Maria College Petrie offers every student the chance to thrive in their chosen path and equips them to lead fulfilling, productive lives beyond Year 12. The College has a Career Education program from Years 7-10 and opportunities in vocational education from Years 10 to 12. This program includes:
- Work experience opportunities for Years 10, 11 and 12
- Career exploration sessions
- Individual career profiling
- Excursions to career expos
- Opportunities to attend local University Open Days
- School Based Apprenticeships and/or Traineeships (Years 11 & 12)
- TAFE:
- Trade Taster experiences at TAFE (Year 10)
- TAFE @ School (Years 11 & 12) - one day a week (Certificate I, II, III and IV)

Obligation Statement:
Mt Maria College will ensure students have every opportunity to complete training. If an Registered Training Organisation (RTO) the school is partnered with is unable to complete training, an alternative provider will be found or a refund provided.
The delivery of Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificates is subject to minimum enrolment numbers and is dependent on the school’s capacity to run the qualification. If a certificate does not proceed, parents/guardians and students will be notified as soon as possible so that alternative course options can be considered and selected.
