​​The sporting life at Mt Maria College Petrie allows students to represent the College in SECA (South East Colleges Association) Sport on Wednesday afternoons, as well as opportunities to represent the District, Metropolitan North and the State in various sports including swimming, cross country and athletics.                         


Sport and Recreation

After period 3 on Wednesday afternoons all students participate in the Sport and EXTRAS program. Students have the opportunity to choose between SECA Sport competitions or EXTRAS (Recreational) activities.  ​​​​

SECA Sport

Mt Maria College Petrie is a part of the SECA North and play sport against the local BCE Schools. In Terms 1 and 2 sports such as Rugby league (boys only), netball (girls only), 5 a-side soccer, volleyball, Chess and theatre sports are played against these schools. In Term 3, Touch football, Soccer, Basketball, chess and Theatre sports are played within the SECA competition. SECA Sport also involves swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals and various gala days including cricket, oztag, rugby 7s, and AFL.


EXTRA Activities

Students who choose not to participate in SECA Sport can choose recreational activities. Some activities are school based whilst others, such as PCYC, tenpin bowling, and indoor sports use community venues.


Inter-house Sport

Inter-house competitions are held throughout the year for Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. In addition various inter-house competitions are played throughout the year.​
